Hi everyone, just a quick note to let you know that Carnivale Mijnoon is going to host a Spring Break Hafla:

Come 'beat' the winter blues with a drum workshop given by Rune!
4:00 – "Drum for Dancers" Rune has taken the most common beats with some of their variations as well as some of the more unusual beats, to make a workshop that will help dancers learn what the beats are called and what they sound like. We will then discuss which steps can work with the rhythms and practice dancing them. He is making a CD with the rhythms on it so you will have something to practice with at home!
* CD is $5; please order ahead to ensure you have a copy if you want one!
5:00 – Drummers, this workshop is for you. Rune is an excellent teacher for those drummers just starting out, or those who have had some experience. You may order the CD also.
Please come take advantage of Roxanne's presence as she is visiting us from Texas and will be giving 2 dance workshops!
4:00 –Veil techniques and a short choreography will be taught.
5:00 –Double Veil techniques and a short choreography will be taught.
- We have some veils available to borrow, so please don't buy a veil just for this workshop, you may change your mind about what veil works best for you after taking the workshop.
6:30 –Performance
Hafla to be started after the Performances are done and runs until 11:00 pm.
Musicians and drummers welcome, there will be live music.
The workshops are $10 each or $15 for 2.
The Performance/Hafla is a $5 donation and it is pot luck so bring your favorite dish (it does not have to be 'Arabic' food!) for your friends to try.
